How To Upload Your Saved World To Your Palworld Server

This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to upload your own saved world to your Palworld Server.

Locating Local World Files

Access your save files directly by clicking the open folder button in Palworld.

  1. Open Palworld and click “Start Game” to view your world list.
  2. Select your desired world, then click the folder icon in the bottom left.

Your world files will now be visible. Set them aside but keep them ready for uploading.

Uploading an Existing World

Replace your server’s current world files with your existing Palworld world files.

  1. Stop your server through the control panel.
  2. Connect to your server using an external FTP program, such as FileZilla.
  3. Navigate to /Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0 and open the last folder, usually named with a random string of characters.
  4. Delete all files within this folder; they must be replaced with your existing world files.

Feel free to download or back up these files for future use, but they cannot remain in this folder.

  1. Upload your existing world files (excluding WorldOption.sav) to the now-empty server directory.

Note: Avoid uploading the WorldOption.sav file to prevent overriding server configuration options.

  1. Start your server.

Character Data Wipes When Transferred

When uploading a locally hosted world to your server in Palworld, a critical issue arises where the host character’s data is entirely wiped. This occurs because the dedicated server assumes the role of the host character, leading to the loss of experience and technological advancements. Unfortunately, there is currently no known fix for this problem without delving into intricate player file technicalities.

Mitigation Measures:

  1. Store Host Player’s Items in World Storage Due to the inherent issue, it is strongly recommended to store the host player’s items, Pals, and equipment into world storage before uploading the world to your server. This allows for the transfer of these assets, mitigating the impact of the data wipe. However, it’s important to note that the host player’s experience and technological advancements will still be lost.

Tip: Prioritize the preservation of valuable items and essential resources to minimize the impact on the player’s progression.

Stay Informed About Updates

Keep abreast of Palworld updates and patch notes, as developers may address this issue in future releases. Regularly check for community discussions, forums, or official channels for any developments regarding a solution to this problem.

While the current situation poses a challenge, taking proactive steps to store crucial items and documenting player progress can help minimize the impact of the data wipe. As the game evolves, developers may introduce solutions or workarounds to address this issue, emphasizing the importance of staying informed within the Palworld community.
