Calling all builders and aesthetes! The highly anticipated Minecraft 1.21 update isn’t just about exciting new features and gameplay tweaks. Mojang Studios has also snuck in a delightful surprise for all the creative minds out there – a brand new set of paintings!
Since the addition of the Wither painting back in 2012, there haven’t been any new paintings introduced to the game. This update breaks the 12-year wait with a diverse selection that caters to various building styles. Let’s take a closer look at these artistic additions:
This landscape painting offers a scene many will recognize, featuring a forest biome with a friendly pig wandering in the foreground. You may also know about this as “pack.png”.
A simple two-block-by-two-block composition featuring a pot, a cake, and a sunflower resting on a table. This pixelated masterpiece is a clever nod to classic still-life paintings that share a similar arrangement, like Paul Cézanne’s “Flower Pot at a Table.”
The only tall (2-block) painting parodies Remington’s “The Cowboy.”
A tiny painting of the original Minecraft rose (replaced by poppies later).
Check out this adorable two-block painting! It parodies the famous “American Gothic” by Grant Wood, but with two Minecraft villagers standing proudly next to their pixelated home.
The new paintings can be obtained through the usual crafting method. Simply arrange eight sticks in a square around a single block of wool in the crafting grid. The color of the wool will determine the frame of the painting you create.
With these new artistic additions, Minecraft 1.21 offers even more creative possibilities. So, unleash your inner artist, grab your paintbrush (or rather, your crafting tools!), and get ready to transform your Minecraft world into a true work of art!
