How To Prevent Palworld Server Memory Leak And Rubber Banding

Proactive Measures Against Palworld Server Memory Leak And Rubber Banding.

Why is my server memory increasing?

As of the first week of launch, Palworld’s dedicated server has a significant memory leak. With just a few players, we’ve observed RAM usage increase from 2GB to 8GB in just a few hours of gameplay.

Known Issues

You can find more details about ongoing issues on Palword X profile Offical Devs Announcement.

“The development team is aware of serious bugs, such as the inability to enter servers, play multiplayer, and data loss. They are currently working on fixing these issues, and we will share information about the fixes as soon as possible.”

Reducing the Memory Leak

What’s crucial is that there are steps you can take to reduce the memory impact and the impact of this memory leak bug.

Hotfix to Reduce Memory Leak

Disabling the bEnableInvaderEnemy setting is a hotfix that can significantly reduce RAM usage and mitigate the impact of the memory leak. In our testing, we’ve seen servers reduce RAM usage by over half and remain stable for hours afterward.

Despite turning up the setting, invaders can still attack your base, so it’s unclear what this specifically changes in the Palworld game server.

Update the Setting

Update this setting by opening the file located at /Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/PalWorldSettings.ini. Change the setting to bEnableInvaderEnemy=False and restart the server.

Use Scheduled Server Restarts

Unfortunately, until the memory leak is fully resolved, preventing your server from crashing entirely is challenging, especially after it runs for 12+ hours. However, a practical solution is to create Automated Tasks to schedule periodic restarts for your server. If you haven’t disabled the bEnableInvaderEnemy setting in the section above, or if your server is running with 4GB or less of RAM, we recommend hourly restarts. For larger servers, we suggest implementing restarts every 2-4 hours. This proactive approach helps manage the impact of the memory leak on server stability.

Stay Informed About Updates

Keep abreast of Palworld updates and patch notes, as developers may address this issue in future releases. Regularly check for community discussions, forums, or official channels for any developments regarding a solution to this problem.

While the current situation poses a challenge, taking proactive steps to store crucial items and documenting player progress can help minimize the impact of the data wipe. As the game evolves, developers may introduce solutions or workarounds to address this issue, emphasizing the importance of staying informed within the Palworld community.
