How to Ban a Player From your Garry's Mod Server

Find out how to restrict unwanted players from joining your server.

Banning disruptive players from your GMod server can be a crucial step in maintaining a positive gaming environment. This guide will dive into the process of kicking and banning players from your server by utilizing ULX in-game commands.

First Method - ULX Admin

This method requires ULX to be installed. If you haven’t done that yet, please follow this article on Installing ULX & ULIB Admin System to your Garry’s Mod Server.

  1. After installing ULX, Connect to your server.
  2. Open the in-game console by pressing ~
  3. Enter any ULX command, based on what you want to do.
ulx ban <player> [time (in minutes)] [reason] Bans a player based off their username for an optional amount of time.
ulx banid <steamid>[minutes, 0 for permanent] [reason] Bans a player based off their SteamID for an optional amount of time.
ulx unban <steamid/username> Unbans a user based off their SteamID or username at the time of ban.
4. Press Submit for the command to take action.

Second Method

  1. Connect to your server.
  2. Open the in-game chat by pressing Y.
  3. Enter any of the following commands:
!ban <player> [time (in minutes)][reason] Bans a player based off their username for an optional amount of time.
!banid <steamid>[time (in minutes)][reason] Bans a player based off their SteamID for an optional amount of time.
!unban <steamid/username> Unbans a user based off their SteamID or username at the time of ban.
4. Press Enter for the command to take action.
